Landmark Credit Union raises $32k for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin

“We are pleased to join with hundreds of credit unions and thousands of credit union members throughout the United States in this great fundraiser,” said Jay Magulski, Landmark President. Each credit union raises funds locally, with their own members and employees. All donations then go to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital closest to where the money was raised. “We are grateful to our staff and members for so generously supporting the campaign for the kids each year,” said Magulski.

Nationwide, credit unions have raised $87 million for the Children’s Miracle Network campaign since the program began in 1996. Last year credit unions raised more than $8.7 million nationally for Children’s Hospitals. Credit unions in the State of Wisconsin raised $305,651 last year.

Landmark Credit Union is $1.8 billion strong, with 482 employees who serve more than 191,600 member/customers at 25 locations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

Landmark Credit Union Promotes Four Employees

New Berlin, WI – Landmark Credit Union announced the promotions of Eric Kase, Jeff Knaub, Teri Morgan and Michelle Polacheck. 

Eric Kase was promoted to Senior Vice President, overseeing the Marketing and E-Channel departments as well as continuing to directly manage the Landmark Investment Center. Kase received his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University. He is a Registered Securities Principal and is currently completing the Executive MBA program through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kase has worked with Landmark for 12 years, most recently as Vice President of the Landmark Investment Center.

Jeff Knaub was promoted to Vice President. Knaub received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is currently pursuing his MBA from Concordia University. Knaub, who began his Landmark career in 1997, previously served as a branch manager and over the past year has managed the E-Channel department which he will continue to expand and develop.

Teri Morgan was promoted to Vice President, overseeing eight Landmark branch locations. Morgan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Communications and MBA from Concordia University. She has been with Landmark for 16 years, most recently as Assistant Vice President of Branch Sales and Services with oversight of four Landmark branches.

Michelle Polacheck was promoted to Vice President. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Regis University and earned an MBA from St. Martin’s University. Polacheck, who joined Landmark in 2003, leads Landmark’s training and development efforts and manages the Human Resources department.

Landmark Credit Union Announces Mergers

New Berlin, WI – Landmark Credit Union is merging with four smaller credit unions, American Credit Union on the South side of Milwaukee, People’s Credit Union in Cudahy, Co-operative Credit Union of Racine and Burlington and Horizon Credit Union of Racine. The target date for all the mergers is December 31, 2011, with the merging of their member accounts into Landmark’s computer system in the first and second quarters of 2012.

American Credit Union is located at 3280 South Clement Avenue in Milwaukee. They currently serve 3,986 members and have accumulated assets of over $22.5 million.

People’s Credit Union is located at 4801 S. Packard Ave. in Cudahy. They serve 1,963 members and have grown to $13.2 million in assets.

Co-operative Credit Union is located at 6219 Washington Avenue in Racine and at 473 Milwaukee Avenue in Burlington. They currently serve 4,450 members and their assets have grown to more than $22 million.

Horizon Credit Union is located at 1931 Grove Ave. in Racine. They serve 3,729 members and have accumulated assets of more than $26.2 million.

Approval by the Office of Credit Unions has been received for the Co-Operative and American mergers and is pending for the Horizon and People’s mergers. Approval votes by their members have been completed at Co-Operative and American, and are pending at Horizon and People’s Credit Unions. All employees of the four credit unions will be offered jobs at Landmark.

Landmark Credit Union Launches New Website

New Berlin, WI – Landmark Credit Union is pleased to announce the release of their new website on September 20, 2011. The remodeled site located at www.LandmarkCU.com, features new navigation and a new look to both the website and Online Banking service.

Other new features include easy Online Banking sign-on from the Home page, new financial calculators, simpler online loan applications and account opening. Plus members can now view and redeem their Rewards points from Points2U, conveniently located inside Online Banking.

Landmark Credit Union announces higher earnings, promotes new President

New Berlin, WI – Landmark Credit Union earned $2,896,153 in the first quarter of 2011 vs. $2,078,653 in the same quarter last year. Delinquent loans declined to 2.37% of the portfolio, down from 2.87% a year earlier. “It appears that the economy has stabilized, and overall business activity is accelerating,” said Ron Kase, CEO. “Landmark weathered the great recession with a strong balance sheet and earnings. This allowed us to continue loaning money to members and small business borrowers throughout the downturn,” he added. 

“Landmark is now in a strong position to build its leadership team of the future,” said Kase. Therefore, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce that at their April meeting, they voted to name Jay Magulski President, while Ron Kase retains the title of CEO. Magulski also retains his title of Chief Operating Officer.

Magulski’s resume includes more than twenty-five years progressive experience, with the last four as Landmark’s Chief Operating Officer. The directors anticipate that Magulski will earn the additional title of CEO sometime before Kase’s official retirement date of January 19, 2013.

Jay Magulski joined Landmark in 2002 as Vice President of Business Development and Training. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2003 and Chief Operating Officer in 2007. Prior to joining Landmark, Magulski was employed at US Bank managing various areas from 1986 to 2002. He earned a BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Landmark Credit Union member wins $25k in TurboTax Online Banking Sweepstakes

New Berlin, WI – Danny Fatla of Grafton didn’t imagine that simply starting his tax return using TurboTax for Online Banking through Landmark Credit Union’s website would win him $25,000, but it did. Danny won the grand prize in the “This Way to $25k” TurboTax for Online Banking sweepstakes. Twenty-five other prizes of $1,000 each were also awarded in the nation-wide sweepstakes.

“This can’t be real!,” said Danny. “It’s awesome … something that happens once-in-a-lifetime!” When asked what he planned to do with his winnings, Danny said, “I’m going to pay off some bills and then enjoy some of it and take my wife on a get-away, maybe to Door County – and buy my wife a new vehicle, because she deserves one,” he said.

“We’re thrilled for Danny,” said Jay Magulski, Landmark President. “He won $25,000 because he chose to try TurboTax through his online banking at Landmark, and it didn’t cost us a penny! Offering our members easier ways to manage their finances, like TurboTax for Online Banking, is one of Landmark’s key goals,” he added.

Landmark teamed with Intuit Financial Services, their online banking provider, to offer the sweepstakes. Any Landmark member who logged on and took a free ‘test drive’ of the tax preparation software through Landmark’s website was automatically entered in the sweepstakes. Hundreds of other financial institutions throughout the U.S. also participated.

TurboTax for Online Banking provides a convenient way to prepare income taxes because it is linked to a member’s online banking account. It combines the ease of TurboTax with the convenience of pre-populated data from online banking. TurboTax for Online Banking was free to Landmark members with simple federal returns. Members who needed to file more complex federal returns were given a discounted rate on other TurboTax products.
